Efficient utilisation of line stone in refining process
Impurities of liquid steel are removed in converter by adding lime stones. However, a part of the limestone cannot be used for the refining and remained. Our research aims to improve the efficiency of the reaction of limestone.
Development of mild cooling mould flux used in continuous casting process
Efficiency improvement in “Continuous casting” is essentially important to
the improvement of total steel productivity.
Casting speed of continuous casting increases with an increase in
rotational speed of rolls, resulting in the surface cracking due to too fast
extraction of heat induced by thinner mould flux film between steel shell
and mould. Therefore, mould flux having high heat resistivity is required to
realise mild cooling in high speed casting. Our laboratory is a front runner
of this research field and promoting cooperative research works with
domestic or European steelmaking companies.
Thermophysical properties of oxide scale in hot-rolling process
Cooling rate control in hot-rolling process is essential to obtain qualified
steels. Thermal conductivity and diffusivity of the oxide scales formed on
the steel are essential data to control cooling rate of the steel.
